Self-care for your lymphatic system can be as simple as showering! The armpits are a concentrated area of lymph nodes and process a whole lot of fluid that’s on it’s way back to the heart. About the size of a corn kernel just beneath the skin, the lymph nodes act as blood cleaners and can occasionally feel tender or swollen. To avoid (or treat) this issue, simply use your wash cloth to stroke in downward motions toward the heart, or rubbing lightly in a circular motion for 15-30 seconds. Other areas of concentration lymph glands are the neck and in the bend of your leg at the hip. Always stroke your washcloth toward your heart and you will be helping your body do what it would normally be doing.
